The Cybex Sirona G is one of Cybex' brand new toddler seats from their Gold range. It is part of the G-Line Modular system where the Base G isofix base is compatible with the Cloud G infant seat and thereafter the Sirona G toddler seat. It is a 360-degree rotating seat that will keep your little one safe from around 6 months old (or when they outgrow their Cloud G infant seat at around 18 months) until approximately 4 years old. WHAT ARE THE WEIGHT AND HEIGHT LIMITS OF THE CYBEX SIRONA G?

The Sirona G is an iSize approved car seat from 61cm-105cm/19kg in rear facing or 76-105cm/19kg in forward facing. This usually lasts average-sized children until they are approximately 4 years old. It is safest for children to rear face as long as possible, and the Sirona G does allow extended rear facing until the seat is outgrown.

The Cybex Base G can be used from birth with the Cybex Cloud G infant seat and thereafter can be used with the Sirona G toddler seat. This means you will get around 4 years of usage with the Cybex Base G isofix base.

WHAT ARE THE SAFETY FEATURES OF THE CYBEX SIRONA G?

The Cybex Sirona G has its own built in isofix base with visual indicators to ensure correct installation. The indicators turn from red to green when installation is correct. It performs well in crash tests and meets the severe UN R129 (iSize) side impact criteria. The Sirona G has been built with integrated LSP (Linear Side Protection) which offers increased safety in the event of a side-impact collision. It reduces the force of a side-impact in combination with the energy-absorbing shell.

It scored an overall safety score of 2.1 (good) by ADAC with a low risk of injury in a side impact collision and a low risk of injury in a frontal collision.

SENSORSAFE

Cybex SensorSafe provides essential alerts to help prevent critical situations: when your child unbuckles the clip, when the ambient temperature of your child is too hot or too cold, if your little one is left unattended in the car, and if your child has been seated for too long.

All alerts are received via Bluetooth on your smartphone through a user-friendly app that also provides guidance on installation, how-to videos, FAQs and more. It is an optional accessory that is compatible with all Cybex infant and toddler car seats. Vehicle must have OBD port in order to work.

WHAT ARE THE COMFORT FEATURES OF THE CYBEX SIRONA G?

The Sirona G has 5 recline settings for rear facing, which offer maximum comfort for naps and prevents your baby’s head falling forward. As your child gets older, the seat should be used in more upright recline settings.

Due to the very deep recline angles when rearfacing, the seat must be used more upright as your child grows and their head starts nearing the top of the seat. This is to ensure they do not hit their head on the front seat in a collision.

We suggest putting the seat up a recline angle at each birthday.

There are also 5 recline settings that can be used in forward facing too.

There are 12 height adjustments of the integrated headrest and 5-point harness to ensure a safe fit at every stage of your child's growth.

The harness must be level with or just below the shoulders for rearfacing. If your child is forward facing; the harness must be level with or just above the shoulders.

The Sirona G has loops on the sides of the seat in order to keep the harness out the way while putting your child in.

The Sirona G has been built with all-round ventilation which provides year-round comfort for your child by drawing heat away from your child.

The Sirona G can be rotated towards the door which makes getting your child into and out of the car a breeze. It can be rotated on any recline angle. The seat is rotated by simply lifting the lever on the side of the base and rotating the seat towards you.

HOW IS THE CYBEX SIRONA G INSTALLED?

The Sirona G is quick and easy to install. It has a separate isofix base (Cybex Base G isofix base). This means that the seat can be removed from its base making it lighter and easier to move between cars. Extra isofix bases can be purchased separately if you need one in each car. It is only possible to install it in cars with isofix brackets and cannot be installed with the seatbelt. The Sirona G is quite compact for a rear facing toddler seat. The load leg cannot be installed on top of underfloor storage compartments.

HOW TO INSTALL THE CYBEX SIRONA G REAR FACING?

Attach the isofix connectors of the Cybex Base G isofix base and check that the indicators turn green. The base should then be pushed as close to the vehicle backrest as possible for a secure installation.

The support leg should then be adjusted to the correct height in the footwell of the car, until the indicator turns green. The Base should not be floating above the vehicle seat.

Thereafter you can click the Sirona G toddler seat onto the isofix base. Ensure that the indicator located on the back of the isofix base behind the seat have turned green.

You can then adjust the seat to one of the recline positions. The seat should be more reclined for younger babies.

HOW TO INSTALL THE CYBEX SIRONA G IN FORWARD FACING?

The Sirona G is very easy to switch from rear facing to forward facing.

Remove the Sirona G off of the isofix base and flip the "mis-use switch" to allow the base to be turned to forward facing position. Thereafter you can place the Sirona G back onto the isofix base and turn it into the forward-facing position. The seat can then be reclined to one of the 5 forward facing recline positions. It is mandatory to use it rearward-facing up to an age of 15 months and a size of 76 cm.

Even beyond this limit Cybex recommend that rearward-facing transport is the safest until 4+ years old. And we agree!

HOW TO REMOVE AND WASH THE CYBEX SIRONA G COVERS?

The covers are fairly easy to be removed and are machine washable. The car seat cover consists of 4 parts. These are fastened to the car seat at several places. Once unfastened, the individual parts of the cover can be removed. To reattach the cover, follow the removal instructions in the reverse order.

The manual is quite clear and provides step-by-step instructions on how to remove the cover.

The cover should be washed at 30° C in a delicate wash cycle. Washing at higher temperatures than 30° C or by hand may result in colour bleeding. Wash separately from other items and never tumble dry! Never dry in direct sunlight!

HOW LONG CAN THE CYBEX SIRONA G BE USED FOR?

Cybex recommends that their harnessed car seats not be used for longer than 8 years, provided it has not been in a crash. Due to ageing, the quality of the material may change as the seat ages.

WHAT IS THE WARRANTY ON THE CYBEX SIRONA G?

The warranty is 3 years on the seat excluding textiles. The Cybex importer in South Africa carries the tools and can import spare parts if needed, to carry out any repairs.

IS THE CYBEX SIRONA G COMPATIBLE WITH MY CAR?

In order to install the Sirona G, the car requires isofix and no underfloor storage compartments. A rear facing car seat must never be installed in front of an active airbag. Click here to check if your car is on the approved fit list:

The Cybex Sirona G in combination with the Cybex Base G is a great seat with good safety ratings and a relatively affordable price tag compared to other high scoring toddler seats! If you are using the Base G isofix Base from birth with the Cloud G infant seat; you will have an affordable, safe, long-lasting option for your growing child. It has one of the deepest reclines we have seen so it is great for cars with steep back seats.
