ABOUT PRECIOUS CARGO
Precious Cargo launched in 2018. We carefully selected baby products that meet or exceed the highest safety standards. All our car seats have undergone additional, more stringent crash testing than the mandatory regulatory crash testing, and they all score well for safety. We also sell a range of the best prams, baby carriers, cots, monitors, breast pumps, baths and play equipment.
Our consultants are now a team of 3 moms, with many years' experience working with children. Julie and Robyn are qualified healthcare professionals. We provide expert advice to parents, based on European best practice guidelines and the latest research. We offer professional installations and demonstrations.
We have a showroom in Johannesburg where we do face-to-face consults, but for those who are not able to come through, we offer video consults.

JULIE MONSON

Julie is the founder of Precious Cargo. She is an Occupational Therapist, a certified car seat technician, safe sleep consultant and a dedicated mother of three. Through her professional work, she has witnessed firsthand the devastating and lifelong consequences of children not being properly restrained in cars. This experience ignited her passion and lifelong commitment to child safety and research. Recognising that parents in South Africa had limited access to professional resources on correct car seat use, Julie established the Facebook group Car Seat Support South Africa in May 2016. Through this platform, she provides free advice to empower parents with the knowledge they need to make the safest choices for their children. She later expanded her support initiatives by creating Safe Sleep Support South Africa, which educates parents on safe sleep practices for babies, and Babywearing Support South Africa, a group that guides parents on the correct and safe use of baby carriers. |
ROBYN HUNT

Robyn is the general manager at Precious Cargo. She has an honours degree in Psychology and is a certified car seat technician and safe sleep consultant. She is also a qualified lifeguard. She has 2 children. She joined Precious Cargo in 2020, although she has been involved with our Facebook support group Car Seat Support South Africa since it started and assisted with our rental service beforehand. She shares our passion for child safety which started at a young age when she experienced the loss of a family member in a car accident. She loves children and is a huge advocate for their safety. |
HILLARY PRENS

Hillary is filling the role of Showroom Assistant and receptionist. With her wealth of experience working with children in school settings, Hillary brings so much knowledge, warmth, and care to our community. She recently qualified as a safe sleep consultant. As a mom of two boys, Hillary understands firsthand the joys and challenges of parenthood, and she’s passionate about making every moment enjoyable for little ones. We’re so lucky to have someone who truly loves entertaining and engaging with children! |
